Global innovation perspectives for technology entrepreneurs in Japan

Blockbuster TOKYO 2021-2022

We are delighted to announce that we have been selected as a delivery partner for the upcoming Blockbuster TOKYO, an acceleration and capacity-building programme for early-stage pharma and medical startups in Japan.

Sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the programme will start in August 2021 and will continue for 8 months, taking participants through training sessions and mentoring, leading up to a pitch competition taking place in February 2022.

Oxentia has been selected as a delivery partner because of its extensive experience working with innovators around the world and in Japan. This is why the role of Oxentia will be to bring global perspectives on innovation and technology commercialisation to the programme.  Working closely with its long-term partner Mitsubishi Research Institute, Oxentia consultants will lead all programme sessions dedicated to entering global markets, negotiating and making deals with partners outside of Japan, and enhancing opportunities for science entrepreneurs through international networks.

Oxentia’s Dr Masashi Matsunaga said: “We work with many partners and clients in Japan, bringing perspectives on innovation management sourced directly from our Oxford experience. Participating in Blockbuster TOKYO is a unique opportunity for us to tap into early-stage Japanese talent and potential. We hope to see many project thrive during and after the programme, and we look forward to continue building bridges between Oxford and Japanese innovation.”
