Executive Leadership for Women

Challenge

Around the world, only 4% of chief executives are female, yet women make up around 40% of the paid global labour force, according to the United Nations. Statistics such as this provide the background to a request from Muscat University (Oman) to develop a programme for women executives to come together, share their experiences, and learn strategies to strengthen the impact of their leadership.

Approach

Oxentia created and delivered a three-day course structured around the following themes:

  • Setting direction
  • Making a difference
  • Changing behaviour

Through lectures, workshops, practical exercises, and discussion groups, the course engaged with key issues facing women leaders in business seeking to achieve their professional goals. Topics included leadership, executive presence, setting strategic direction and intrapreneurship. Senior business leaders from the region shared their insights and experiences with participants.

Impact

Participants reported increased confidence in their leadership skills and in the strategic roles. The programme also provided a forum for building stronger networks to support female business leaders.

Through initiatives like this Muscat University is continuing its journey of supporting executive women in Oman and the region.
