The University of Westminster

Strategy development for Academic Enterprise

Challenge

Oxentia were approached by the University of Westminster to conduct a complete overhaul of its Intellectual Property (IP) commercialisation and exploitation systems, and assist the university with the achievement of its strategic objectives.

Approach

Oxentia worked closely with Westminster to develop, and deliver, a strategy for generating revenue from academic enterprise at the university. Oxentia mapped the university’s systems and stakeholders, and then drafted a new IP policy, developed exploitation processes and systems, and delivered on-site training in IP exploitation for university staff.

Impact

Westminster now have a defined internal process for managing their IP and have systems in place to effectively manage and report on the pipeline of projects identified. Oxentia now provides continuing assistance supporting: IP exploitation for Westminster’s project portfolio; portfolio management and continued IP commercialisation mentoring.
